Crafting

You can craft items in The Division by going to the Base of Operations and using the crafting station which is located ahead and a bit to the left from where you enter.

To craft you need two things, a blue print and the required components.

Blueprints can be obtained from various sources. Each Side Mission will grant you a blueprint. You get an additional one when you return to the JTF officer after completing all side missions. The more interesting ones are high level blueprints which can be bought for Phoenix Currency at the Special Vendor in the Base of Operations to the left of the tech wing laptop, where you can upgrade the wing and in the Dark Zone 6 safe house in the far north. You can get additional blueprints from Dark Zone vendors in the other safe houses, but those are of a lower level. Blueprints have levels, item levels (these are different!) and a quality. Depending on the quality and level of the blueprint you will need accordingly the correct components.

Components can be acquired by collecting it in the world either from specific crates in the open world or the upgrades from the Base of Operations, but also dropped as random loot from enemies and as reward from daily quests after reaching level 30. They can also be created by deconstructing items. Weapons give you Weapon Parts, Weapon Mods will give you Tools, Gear Mods will give you Electronics and any armor piece will give you Cloth. Division Tech can only be found as loot in special chests or from enemies in the Dark Zone. Each component has a level of quality, from green (deconstructed white and green items), to blue (deconstructed blue and purple items) to yellow (only yellow items).

When you craft an item, it will tell you how much of which component you need. It will also give you ranges of values. For weapons that's the damage (mag and rate of fire stay the same), for armor pieces it's the armor and attribute rating. On crafting the components will be consumed at an item will be randomly get the values assigned including bonuses and talents. Blueprints for unique items such as the Liberator have fixed talents.

When you craft, the blueprint is never used up and can be reused unlimited times. This way you can craft the same item over and over to get the item you truly want to have in the end. You can also deconstruct to gain back a small portion of the needed components.

The detailed crafting guides below refer to mostly the high level items (item level 31) but most basics are true about all item crafting.

For all crafting except weapons, there are certain "slots" of bonuses available per item. Each subsection will detail what these slots are and what ranges of values these have.

Each High End gear piece has at one of the Gear Talents. Each group, for example gloves, has a small set of talents possible on it, which are listed in the sub sections.

If a gear is "Firearms" something, then it will have that one of the Attributes as the main attribute (or only).
